The major winter storm forecast to begin Wednesday does not automatically mean major flood concerns. National Weather Service Hydrologist Craig Schmidt detailed the impact of the expected precipitation.
“At this point the amount of water we’re looking at isn’t enough to bring us back up to the crest that we had with the spring snowmelt, that’s the good news. But we will see things coming back up into some minor to moderate flood stages along our rivers.”
As for the storm itself, Schmidt says they are confident there will be significant precipitation, but what kind and where remains a moving target.
