The classic duet between Neil Diamond and Barbara Streisand went to the top of the charts on December 2nd, 1978 – and it was all because of a radio DJ.
Originally written as a television show theme song, both Diamond and Streisand recorded their own separate versions of the song. But then, a DJ made a mash-up of the two versions that was so well-received, that the two artists got together and recorded an official duet version of the song.
This proved to be successful, skyrocketing to the top of the charts, and spawning an album for Neil Diamond as a result. The name? ‘You Don’t Bring Me Flowers’.
