Governor Tim Walz, visiting the Highway 93 flood improvement project in Henderson in south-central Minnesota today (Thurs), is urging the legislature to pass a bonding bill for state public works projects during the special session currently underway:

“As Henderson goes, so goes Duluth. As Duluth goes, so goes Winona, and as Winona goes, so goes Saint Paul.”

A bonding bill is caught up in political wrangling, with House Republicans reportedly demanding that Walz must first give up his COVID emergency powers.   Walz argues a bonding bill is key to Minnesota’s economy recovering from the COVID-induced recession.
