(Pope County, MN) — A man is facing charges in connection with the kidnapping of a Pope County toddler. Prosecutors charged 22-year-old Victor Ramirez Alvarez in Pope County Court yesterday with the alleged kidnapping a two-year-old boy from his home in rural Westport. Ramirez Alvarez is also charged with deprivation of parental rights. Prosecutors say he took the toddler on March 17th from the home of a woman he wanted to date while she was at work and the child’s caregivers were sleeping. Ramirez Alvarez was stopped and arrested by police that night and the child was later found inside another woman’s garage seated in a booster seat and unharmed. THE ALLEGED KIDNAPPING PROMPTED A STATEWIDE AMBER ALERT.
